Industrial Lamp

Kandem, Model 530

1919-39

Shade Diameter: 39cm
Height: 65cm
Material: Steel, Enamel
Rewired*

10 SOLD

A very impressive set of 10 pre-war, very rare and very distinctive German industrial ceiling lights by Körting & Mathiesen of Leipzig (Kandem). Kandem was a progressive lighting company with close connections to the Bauhaus school. They have been sympathetically refurbished preserving decades of natural oxidation and and all the character from nearly 90 years of use.

The lower part of the shade is enamel, inside and out, each shade has varying degrees of impact damage, rust spots, and the usual amount of rust around the lower rim, but overall in very good condition. The upper parts are made from two sections of black painted steel, again with varying degrees of rust. The oxidation has been sealed by matt lacquer creating a gorgeous textured surface. Each one of course is unique.

The position of the bulb can be moved up and down in the tower part of the shade to control the throw of light.

All electrical components have been changed and the shade is now earthed. E27 screw in bulb.

You are quite welcome to view these lamp shades in Stoke Newington, London N16.
