This is a fabulous complete set of design books from the 1960's by S H Glenister - volumes 1 and 2, and the very rare volume 3. The books are packed with photographic illustrations of furniture coming out of factories and colleges, influenced mainly by Scandinavian design but also some by America or other European countries.

The books represent a fascinating insight in the development of British furniture manufacture emerging from austerity after World War 2, as well as providing a valuable resource for collectors and enthusiasts of furniture design or just simply enjoyable.

All the illustrations are captioned with the designers name or the manufacturer's. Many now well known designers are represented, remarkable since the idea of "the designer" as artist had not really gained credence in Britain at this time.

Some of the designers and manufactures represented:

Gordon Russell, Hans Wegner, Robin Day, Christopher Heal, Heals, Hille, Carl Jacobs, Kandya, Greaves and Thomas, Gomme Ltd, Peter Hayward, Robert Heritage, Ernest Race, Borge Mogenson, Frank Guille, John and Sylvia Reid, Meredew, Kay Bojesen, Finn Juhl, Conran, Guy Rogers.
